Panasonic's 2009 Plasma Family

In April Panasonic introduced its first amazing 1-inch ultra-thin and 2-inch super thin Plasmas, as part of their new VIERA series.  This range of 11 models features a combination of revolutionary advancements, making them possibly the smartest, fastest, brightest and certainly the thinnest Plasma TVs to ever hit the Australian TV market.

Panasonic's 2009 Plasma family proudly showcases their new Next Generation Plasma Display Panels, as well as debuting a new screen size (54-inch), and featuring a range of HD and Full HD models, offering consumers more choice and greater operational ease than ever before.

The new VIERA Plasma range includes the flagship, 1-inch ultra-thin Z1 and the super thin 2-inch V10 Premium Full HD Plasma models amongst others.   These two are also the first to meet the strict standards for THX certification.

The Z1 features a Neo Full HD Plasma panel and 1080p Wireless HDMI HD technology.   It offers a brighter picture with deeper blacks and improved dynamic contrast ratio (2,000,000+:1), all housed in a stylish, one-inch thin unit.  The Z1 Series will be available in the new 54-inch size.

The VIERA V10 Premium Full HD Plasma Series boasts cutting edge innovations such as 600Hz Sub-field Drive, 2,000,000+:1 dynamic contrast ratio, Digital Cinema Colour and full THX Display certification.  The V10 Series features a stylish one sheet of glass design and will be available in a 50-inch size.

The 2009 Plasma models are future-proof and ready for the digital switchover - they are equipped with an integrated High Definition Digital Tuner, so consumers can enjoy all the free-to-air digital channels including High Definition broadcasts.

Consumers can also be confident that they are making an environmentally responsible choice when purchasing a Panasonic Plasma TV - they all have improved energy efficiency and will even be launched to the market with a new energy star rating label as part of the voluntary labeling scheme.

They showcase Panasonic's new Next Generation Plasma Display Panels (NeoPDP0) - a design concept that vastly expands the possibilities in image quality, power consumption and thin design, through improvements in materials and processes, discharge gas and cell design, and circuit and drive technology.

The expected release dates in Australia are around August for the 2-inch plasma and around September for the 1-inch.

All Panasonic's 2009 VIERA Plasma HDTVs boast:

  • twice the luminous efficiency of previous displays,
  • improved energy efficiency with a panel life of 100,000 hours, and will be launched with a new energy star rating label as part of the voluntary labeling scheme
