Connect with Video Conferencing
16 Aug 10
What is Video Conferencing?
Video conferencing is the simultaneous use of audio and video now compressed digitally with larger bandwidths to provide ‘real time' conferences in multiple locations. Put simply, it is the ability to achieve high end video phone calls and data transfer to any compatible system anywhere in the world.
Previously we have seen similar picture and sound communication through cabling circuits connecting televisions via telephone networks, since the 1970's.

This method however has been refined with modern technology to provide clear digital audio with no echo (interference of played and new sound waves) and High Definition video usually streamed (data is downloaded whilst playing back downloaded content for a fast continuous feed) over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. Modern technology with increased bandwidth allows for larger data packets to be sent over networks providing an increased quality of sound and picture.
Who uses it?
Video Conferencing is mostly used by corporate companies to link their various offices in different locations. It can be used by any business to connect with their fellow workers or customers.
We also see video communication in social settings now. Anyone who owns a computer with an inbuilt camera, microphone and speaker or connected as peripheral devices, have the ability when connected to the Internet to communicate using audio and video to somebody with the same assets. Now with the release of the iPhone4 there is a mobile device that allows you to have face to face contact with anybody in the world.
This visual communication tool has had a major impact on the Hearing Impaired Community now given the same opportunities as those who are not impaired communicating via the age old telephone.
What are the benefits?
Video Conferencing in the business world brings large and small corporations together with key benefits being:

- Eliminating time between formation of ideas, production and implementation
