Microsoft Teams Rooms vs Microsoft Teams Collaboration Bars

Microsoft have focused their Teams platform to offer a consistent user experience, regardless of location, space or device. Businesses with large boardrooms, small meeting rooms, Huddle spaces and Focus points can provide users with technology that enables easy joining and interaction with onlines meeting in an incredibly  intuitive way.

Microsoft supports two types of certified Microsoft Teams systems. Each system is designed to deliver the Microsoft Teams environment into a meeting space however there are significant differences in the user experience and functionality available for each solution type. Choosing the right product starts with understanding the intended space that a user is going to be working in and the features typically used in those spaces.

Poly X30 Collaboration Bar
Small, Medium and Large Rooms

The Microsoft Teams Room systems run on an Intel PC using Windows 10 IOT in kiosk mode and the Microsoft Teams Application. They will support single or dual screen configuration, allow connection to external cameras and room audio systems, include a touch panel for user control and include content sharing via a HDMI input, proximity join function, custom branding, HD video resolution and future support for Zoom and WebEx meetings.

Currently, Microsoft Teams Rooms are available from Crestron, Poly, Logitech, Yealink, HP and Lenovo.

Personal, Small or Huddle Rooms

As we see the number of small meeting spaces grow, businesses want to provide video conferencing that is suited for huddle spaces, focus spaces and meeting points and does not compromise on the meeting experience. Best suited for personal use or smaller office spaces up to 5 people, the Microsoft Teams Collaboration Bars are Android based and are built as an all in one system. They include a camera and microphone, only support a single screen (even if hardware has dual screen capability) and include proximity join functionality. There is no roadmap for Zoom, Webex or whiteboarding however can consume whiteboard content when started from another Microsoft Teams Room System.

Currently, Microsoft Collaboration Bars are available from Poly (X30 and X50) and Yealink (VC210).
