DEAKIN AT YOUR DOORSTEP

The Deakin at Your Doorstep program is a revolutionary new project that uses state of the art video conferencing technology to link students and lecturers from Deakin University’s Warnambool campus with students in one of five regional TAFE campuses. InSight Systems became involved in this project on the second stage, which involved supplying installing and equipment in dedicated teaching spaces at Warnambool, Wangarratta and Rosebud campuses.

The project’s many benefits include greater access to education for students in regional or remote areas, as well as opportunities for regional professionals to up-skill.

Stage one of the project, was designed by Deakin University. At the second stage Deakin University engaged an AV consultant, Umow Lai, to finalise the design along with technical assistance from InSight Systems. As set out in the design and scope of the project, video conferencing, interactive presentation, DVDs and PCs were all integrated into this project.

The Deakin at Your Doorstep project provided challenges owing to the numerous locations and the inherent differences within each location. Additionally working in conjunction with different building contractors in each location provided some scheduling headaches. However our highly skilled project management and installation team was able to work around all of these difficulties to provide a completed system on time and on budget.

InSight Systems delivered an integrated audio visual and video conferencing product that met the high standards and demands set out by both Deakin University and importantly the students using Deakin at Your Doorstep! By utilising our relationships with market leading brands such as AMX, Extron, Mitsubishi, Dynalite, Shure and many others this project is sure to continue operating as-new and as-designed for many years to come.
