Seamless AV Integration

IBM needed an innovative design for a number of their rooms for a new facility in Ballarat. Engineering Consultants Norman Disney & Young (NDY) were charged with the design for all building services related to the project.

InSight Systems worked closely with the building contractor FDC Building to implement their customised AV System.

Technical Sales Consultant, Jordan Mitchell, visited the site prior to commencement and project managed the high quality AV installation. The integration involved the following:

Meeting Rooms

The meeting rooms are used for a wide range of purposes and required a simple, uniform set-up that all users can easily operate. The rooms were installed with a LCD screen discreetly connected to computer inputs within the tables. Extron Line Drivers were used to ensure signal quality was maintained from input to output.

A larger meeting room was specifically outfitted with a Mitsubishi WD3300U projector and a 16:10, 130-inch screen with JBL speakers.

Training Room

The training room is dedicated for training groups and large-scale meetings so it required a large screen solution. The Mitsubishi WL6700U widescreen projector is ceiling mounted and projects an impressive 5000 ANSI lumens to the 16:10, 130-inch pull-down screen. The JBL powered speakers provide the audio for the system.

Contact Centre

In various areas throughout the Contact Centre, ceiling mounted Hisense LCD screens were installed to display statistics, announcements and other general information. The screens were connected to source equipment in the Communications Room which was some distance for the screens. If traditional cabling techniques were used, the extra-long cable runs would result in a loss of signal quality.

To resolve this, we deployed an Extron solution whereby the VGA signals are converted then extended over shielded, low skew UTP cabling with a VGA transmitter and receiver pair employed for each of the long cable lengths. The result… signal quality is maintained from source to display.

High Security Room

IBM’s secure technology development space required the installation of two 42-inch LCD screens to display various data.
