The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute

The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, located in the Royal Children’s Hospital, looked to InSight Systems due to previous positive experiences utilizing our AV integration services, and were confident that we could yet again deliver a quality result for this prominent project.

MCRI had a requirement for a large video wall display solution in the foyer area of their facility and to provide a method to visually communicate with a large amount of foot traffic. The solution was required to be visually impressive, becoming the central showpiece of the space, while also enabling their communications team to produce content that was engaging and relevant to their intended audience.

Durable Samsung commercial-grade LCD displays were chosen to provide the solution, configured in a video wall to provide a scalable solution to meet a client’s requirements, A 3×3 arrangement was selected to deliver not only the required size but also the required aspect ratio and resolution.

Keeping the horizontal and vertical display count the same meant that the display’s original aspect ratio was maintained. It also ensured that content created on conventional PC’s would natively display on this solution.

The video wall solution was designed to meet a number of functional requirements and align with the technology strategy of MCRI. Our design teams ensured that the integrated product had a long lifespan to align with lifecycle requirements. Displays were installed with serviceable brackets, meaning each display can be easily accessed for servicing. And delivery of content was done via a cloud-based content management system aligning with MCRI’s cloud-first approach.

The video wall displays image quality of 4k or Ultra HD, which is the highest conventional video format currently used today.

The Client Perspective

Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) is the largest child health research institute in Australia and the top three child health research institutes worldwide for research quality and impact. Their team of more than 1200 talented researchers is dedicated to making discoveries to prevent and treat childhood conditions. Many of our researchers are also clinicians at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where the Institute is based. Their research is informed by the problems facing their patients but it also means when a discovery is made, this is quickly transformed into practical treatments for children in the hospital.

When asked about MCRI’s experience with InSight, they said “The technology that is in place at the Institute must stay operational, meet the expanding needs of our team and through many years of engagement, we know we can rely on InSight Systems to deliver the workplace technology outcomes that our users need.

InSight Systems have earned a reputation as the industry’s leading audio-visual integration expert. Working closely with architects, electrical contractors, builders, and most importantly, directly with our clients, InSight Systems ensure the workplace technology we deliver fits your requirements both now and well into the future.
